The Elephant in the room - Sex, marriage and why the church avoids discussing it

Up to around twenty years ago, the church placed sexual activity as a rather high marker to determine the character of its members. Homosexuality was outright condemned and in some congregations it still is. it is however the current approach of avoidance that is creating more confusion that resolution. It is all very well to be liberal, but wothout clear direction of those liberal policies, the liberal stance is moot.

Any truly seeking christian seeks and wants guidance in areas of their lives that are influenced by modern life. Yet most clergy seem averse to say anything in public. The breakdown of the normal family, traditional marriage values and the extended family seem to have driven even the most outspoken of clergy into a corner. For fear of offending the congregation, nothing is said. This in turn makes the church look weak and thus thins both the attendance and the capacity to lead. In a socierty where moral leadership is desperately needed things are not looking good.
